Ed Lover Accused of Punching Out a Female at a Niteclub

December 14, 2005 -- Hip-hop radio personality Ed Lover allegedly socked a gorgeous 26-year-old woman in the face at a trendy Manhattan nightclub, sending her flying and leaving her with a gash that required 20 stitches to close, The Post has learned.

The Power 105.1 afternoon DJ Lover, a former rapper, allegedly "cold-cocked" shapely blond auditor Letitia Belford after Lover's girlfriend argued with her in the VIP section inside hot spot Duvet on West 21st Street at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, law-enforcement sources said.

"She didn't even see it coming," said a source familiar with the case.

Police late yesterday were seeking to question Lover about the alleged incident after a complaint was filed.

The drama began when Lover's unidentified girlfriend became angry with the victim and her friends, sources said.

As Lover's paramour grew more aggressive toward the hazel-eyed beauty, several bouncers quickly intervened and separated them, a source close to the victim said.

Lover, 42, allegedly jumped over a railing, evaded security and slugged Belford, a source close to the case told The Post.

"It's like he jumped in to finish what she [his gal pal] started," the source said.

The blow sent the woman flying across the room like a rag doll, left her covered in bruises and made a gash on her left cheekbone that required 20 stitches.
