You were not in hip hop when it was raw uncut hip hop. You have no reference point in this argument...Don't get me wrong i know some kids these days who listen to some of that stuff or grew up on it, but honestly, most don't
So what about the people whos main influences are ALL of these people? i.e kanye is the same as Common, except he actually sounds better, with changes in his topics, but the styles the same. What about Rakim? What about Talib Kweli? Mos Def? Common is my favorite rapper on my iTunes list. SORRY if I dont follow the bandwagons of OLD people who arent relevant anymore. But, if we grew up listening to these people do we have a valid argument?
