word, thought it was kinda funny that this happened like 2 days after Terumoto made that thread about him, but i just found out he's performing free here on campus tonight. dammmmn UNC gets everybody dope.

aight, so the Saul Williams performance was AMAZING, the dopest experience of my life (show wise)... dude is so on point about everything in the world... i would say over half of the "performace" was answering questions from the audience and hence covering his opinion on pretty much every aspect of life Dude just has an understanding of life, religion, and hip-hop beyond anybody else i've ever heard.

I understand from his poems, at least I believe I do, his standpoint on life and all that shit.

He knows... He's one of the people that know that shit. What kind of stuff was he saying? Did it go against what you believe?

^ no, not really. i agree with pretty much everything he said... his main thing is he understands life like he does, but he still doesnt judge anybody else... for example, he was raised in a Baptist Church in which his father was the pastor... his beliefs now range a little bit away from the Baptist Church's beliefs, but so did his father's... but his father saw the Baptist Church as his family, so even if he began to vary some with his views, he still isn't going to leave his family. That's how he saw his church. And Saul's take on it is that the "red words" in the Bible (those spoken by Jesus) don't contradict anybody's morals or any other religion's beliefs... its just the rest of the Bible which we need to realize was written and interpreted by hundreds of humans that's causing so much discussion. "The words in red aren't confusing at all."

And as far as hip-hop goes, I got the feeling that over half of the people at the show were like, anti-hiphop poetry people who thought that Saul hated hip-hop and where its gone mainstream wise... but people asked him about his take on that, and he came out and said that he doesn't hate anybody who's doing their thing in hip-hop... and he went on to say that the people he's feeling the most are those who are pushing the boundaries of hip-hop and doing THEM, followed by stating that the person he's feeling the most right now is Lil Wayne... i was like yesssssssssssssssss... haha, this dude understands shit. he sees what Wayne is doing... he was like "when i got that Dedication 2 mixtape and heard Wayne say 'i push that mazaratti to the LIMIT!' i was like yesssssssssssssss, and i got so much energy off of his shit and what he says"... so dude isnt "against" rap, and i think he surprised alot of people by speaking on Wayne like that and saying that's who he's feeling the most in the game. The way he presented it is like, hip-hop is like anything else, and you're gonna agree with some shit people say, and disagree with some shit people say... and he has lines in his poems like "hip-hop is lying dead on the side of the road"... but he doesn't put that blame on any particular artist or what they're doing. One thing he kept repeating was "I don't see anything surprising about have-nots being excited about having." And that pretty much sums it up.

Yeah I know what you mean with that shit. In fact I made a thread in cerebral approach about jesus and about the congruency between all religion ( religion with real roots, not those bullshit religions).
