The battle was set, two vets in the game became the finals at large
Both drenching in sweat, out for respect without a worry for scars
Bars awaiting the beat, both MCs on stage enraged with a flow
At the top of their games, awaitin their names that came with tha blows
Both opposed one another, but they were warring themselves
The first contestant was hot, he brought flames from the Hell
The other was hooked, he booked crack in amounts that surpassed the crowd
Dropping bombs from the clouds, he was the favorite and proud
His voice loud with the storm, he tore opponents in half
Left opposition in tears, while crowds erupted with laughs
So the hours elapsed, he passed the judge and smirked..certain he won
And then screams begun, not because of his style... the judge was holdin a gun

*fades*

Now moments pass, every second is vital as the kids gasping for air
No one bothers with prayer, hes a crack junkie and they're very aware

*Memory travels to a week before the competition*

"Yo gimme a hit, Ill get u back in a week, you know Im taking the crown"

Shots penetrating his tissue, issuing life where before theres none
His looks around for some love, but just notices one
A reflection of self, held with tubes in nose and a light blue gown
He remembers the beat, once with bass, now a life support sound
Surrounded by death, he checks his pulse for himself and hears the sound of the gun
His heart beginning to pump, the slightest of thumps,jumping to the beat of a different drum

His life has just begun.

One versus one...conflicted instances of every one anothers differences
We've fallen too short to breach the clearences...when judged by our appearences
See...what the vision is...is that we can be brought together in civil unity
But we stay divided into groups...like the vision supposed to be a clue to me
What the outside can't see... we are alike in more ways than God could ever dream
But minds play tricks...an your body cannot fight off this deadly disease
Now theres reason to believe...why the world is a place of death an uncertainty
Biased connections weakin beliefs...an the hate has started by hurting me
Our drums beat differently...tempos an symbols of our lives always lie uneven
Will I ever understand the reason?...or die knowing we're alike breathin?
A higher God we all believe in...walk on the same earth that Jesus has done
No racial hate towards any person...peace was the creation of God's son
Epidemics continually re-run...riots on the street with killings of different heritages
Others display cruelty amongst their peers...making them feel unfair advantages
Body plastered daily with bandages...this pain cannot be dealt with any longer
Fall to my knees as I am mentally struck...I feel a force that is becoming stronger
A man who spoke out to me proper...I heard a distant thump closin in as I lie
The thump was that of a heart...an it was thumpin with the same beat as mine
Grabbed my hand an connected at the eye...realized I was saved...and to my surprise
We were really no different from one another...an all the same person deep inside

i like trip in this 1, he had it goin good wit nice wordplay n so did the otha guy, both flows were tight but un-skrypted verse wasn't all what i was lookin fo, it looked like somethin that would sound good in a song tho..... nice battle

^from that skrypted would have barely won, but also i think his story was more on a higher level, and had a twist in it (like at the end of the first section) trip just took the topic at face value and came wit a good verse but with a typical look on the topic
