Unsung Hero
IP:
how about another poem about veterans? aight here it is:
My eyes glisten as I remember watching him run, a man on his back, and his hand on the gun He had saved my life five minutes before, oblivious to the sound of the machine-gun's loud roar He was tired and thirsty, his muscles near bursting He carried on, for his job was not done The injured needed him, and without a care for himself he attended them He was a courageous medic, an unsung hero, but I will sing his song, for though other soldiers were shot down around him, he persevered through duty heavy as a mountain He would not stop while a breath remained in his lungs, too many heroes have died, most songs unsung, but I'll sing his song, I will sing this one I remember watching the bullet emerge from just under his shoulder, his knees buckling as if crushed by a boulder I cried my eyes dry, wondering why this brave soldier must die At that moment I raised my right hand, I gave a soldiers salute to this courageous young man, who gave his life for dear Uncle Sam |
