Omni ft. Dex,-phoric-: Dogmatic Seminars
IP:
*Setting: An Abandoned Cathedral*
*Enter Omni the Agnostic* *Omni walks up the aisle, and pauses in front of the crucifix* What do you expect of me? That I should believe? My allegiance dealt easy, faith given freely? The only miracles I know are those of syllables Words that tell of more than heaven and hell Scriptures speak of a deity, the coming messiah Yet when he arrives, nobody believes this social pariah How can the son of God be a merely mortal man? The physical embodiment of a deity’s right hand I wish I could’ve witnessed the creation of existence See one so selfless work miracles on the helpless Leprosy cured or perhaps Lazarus reincarnated Watch a man willingly accept the death he was fated All I request is evidence of your reality Faith doesn’t come easily to one such as me If you were all powerful why not use your powers To stop corruption from spreading, instead of destroying towers?* Make the world a safe place, stop murderers and rapists? I think I know the truth, but I’m just afraid to face it Why do children to go hungry? Lose their parents? Lives torn to tatters Families become broken, does all this even matter? What if you not real, just the hope of mankind? Created from our inability to cope with the idea of dying? We need something to look forward to, when all else is gone So ancient writers came up with a story, some scriptures and psalms Could you have dictated to these prophets of old? Divine voices on deaf ears form the beliefs now set in stone I can’t figure this out on my own, is there anyone out there? Someone of true belief? Jewish, muslim, or atheist, I really don’t care I need somebody who can help me see the light Someone whos blind, yet sees with a their mind’s eye (*not a reference to twin towers, is a reference to the Tower of Babylon) *Enter Poindexter the Prophet... He too walks down the aisle, and takes a place at Omni's right side. He does not seem to notice Omni, but he notices Poindexter. Poindexter begins to chant* Please forgive me father, I need to learn a lesson I need blessing, benediction to absolve me my transgressions Each day I spread my clumsy knowledge, spoken awkwardly I speak truth, no absolutes, but no one heeds my prophecy Calling out for global amnesty in tones that sound inspired But the masses will not listen, there's no brimstone in my fire So I went to find the problem, took a break, and took a ride In order to gain insight, I would have to look inside Never meant to be offensive, now I have to play defense As I roam the globe in search of a machine to rage against The road I took to find the monster left me hurt and sore And this trail (I've failed to mention) led me to this church's door Your religion doesn't matter, so please spare me that discussion Neither does your nationality, French, African, or Russian So please keep an open mind and I hope I have your blessing I've got questions that need answers, and some answers lacking questions For starters, in the church, why is there so much choral banter But refusal to remove those who have looser moral standards? And the holy land is now explosion scarred and battle rocked Don't you think that "holy war" is just a goddamn paradox? It's said God made us in his image when he drew this earthly portrait But if his image was benevolent, why did we men distort it? Both side's claim it's their destiny to dominate the region And both say that their in the right; the others are all heathens When God fights on both sides there's no way humankind can win Yes, right now my faith has faltered, I won't try to hide my sin So I thought of my dilemma, and through it I tried to reason Without out a God above us, then what is there to believe in? A divine force above, rules over each plant, man and animal But it takes supreme faith to trust, because it's never tangible Now I've got a proposition, and I hope you'll stop and listen I'm begging this agnostic to allow my God within him Take a minute to digest my offer; let it take its toll Yes, I've questioned in the past but now I'm here to save your soul *Enter Phoric the Atheist. Phoric joins the Omni at his left, seemingly oblivious too all around him. Only Omni is left aware. Phoric begins to speak* o brother where art thou? im left doubt-less than fall foul talking to an inner child, all i beleive in is what is called 'now' and 'never'... seemingly obvlivious is this world to religions endeavour if what is called god is me and entity's combined, than im all alone forever the infidelis in my nature makes me skeptical of a gods person my mind understands to heal a mans body, you must nurse him i dont beleive that you may curse one, or know a mans life or his sequal how can a good exist completetely separate from greater evils? i ask for no forgiveness, and i ask for no tales or truths i'll see after soul and body, ill have to seek my own truth show me god is one person, with all religions combined and ill show you abuse and torture spawned from only one mind the religion praised for wealth, was first created for the slaves made for control of workers... made from Pharaonic days ask me if im ignorant, tell me if your god is figmented imagination tell me would your god create greed, wealth and mental dissipation how can sinners still claim benefit from all religious teachings when those who faltered still dont understand what you beleive in? how can evil deeds go so unpunished when claimed to relgious aids how degrading must it be that martyrs banish what they've prayed i walk with closed ears but i can still manage to listen i can walk blindly but still be damaged by my vision if i clinged to loose ends of your religion, would i have gone to heaven or would i be bound by relics of the sins that come in sevens man created god to create man, so man could use god to stop them but whats beyond the prophets gods beleifs have been forgotten this worlds impious to your god, how can you withstand this? how can religious teachings end up with political fed ambush too many questions laid to someone else when meant for me look into your mind for answers not toward your spirits being *Omni rises, and ponders these statements. He begins to rebut* * looks to Poindexter * How can a god allow such misery and suffering? And still bring pacifism and eternal loving? 2 sides of the spectrum, united in one being? Blind to all around, yet is proclaimed all-seeing? Defying him only leads to your son on his hit list Yet this same person can tell us to preach forgiveness? Why the sudden change in position, I thought he was infallible? Ever unchanging, I guess even his thoughts are malleable If a this perfect being can consider himself wrong, Then he’s not perfect is he? His divinity is gone. *turns to Phoric* There’s no divine force, only that of humanity? We control this planet, it’s merely a vanity? Then who started it all? I need answers for these questions What happened before time? I’m taking suggestions Where did we begin? Who controlled our creation? Was it a glitch in the gene pool? A fluke started this generation? Well who started that? And the ones before this? Keep going back, keep asking, find the first to exist? Ask them who made them, see if they have the answers Are we truly creations, or this universe’s cancer? *Strangely, Neither Poindexter nor Phoric seem to have heard him.* *Returns gaze to crucifix* This aid sent to me have caused nothing but problems Only multiplied my confusion, ever since I saw them We are 3 conflicting views, a twisted trinity Are you really there god? Answer me! I can’t go on living like this, this darkness is maddening I know now what I must do, although the thought is saddening I must find for myself what the true answer is I only wish that it hadn't come to this... *Omni ascends to the altar, and pulls out a chalice. He pours a liquid from a vial he has into the chalice, and sips. He then goes to the throne, and takes a seat* This was the only solution, the only path for me I now know the truth and I may rest in peace *As Omni's life leaves him, Poindexter and Phoric slowly begin to walk away, fading out of existence as they do. As Omni draws his last breath, Poindexter and Phoric disappear* |
