the melting pot

IP:

this cauldron is filled to the top with run colors
melted flesh burns stirred and mixed brothers
blood spilled thins this rank and thick concotion
poured it strips flesh and is enviormentally toxic
seperated the colors glow with vibrant life
together they darken a change from day....to night
why do mixed colors fade away from their previous gleam
how can this endless stream fade hiss bubble and seethe
BUT add a dash of tolerance and a hint of acceptance
perhaps this critical mixture can be taught lifes hard lessons
love that which is different and connect within the message
lay down your former views put away your ironic weapons
only then can we recieve gods tender and loving blessings
until then we're nothing just skin covered window dressings

terrible tragedy turns daily life to pandemonium
suddenly we all reside inside an overrun sanitarium
scared thoughts lead to hearts of anger
woes tragically change lead our rationale to immenent danger
slain shieks lay in blood pools under the hands of patriots
sacred is no longer existent replaced by bloody hands cut
wrung torn until the gashes of unity bleed into the streets
mass hysteria's teeth gnashes and nips at our hands and feet
distraught mothers seek sons fathers search for daughters
closed coffins are seen far to often on these troubled waters
blasted blasphemous curses resound from the mouths of politics
sadistic serpents circumvent legal methods looping circles frantic
soon the colors run as one in a blaze of crimson fire
sadly it is the red of blood stained fervor hatred and desire

It seems to me that this great nation is slowly losing the focus on what made this country great. Our greatest strength has always been our diversity. With the tragedy of 9-11, the subsequent search for Bin Laden, the war in Iraq, and all the scary and horrible things going on in this world, tolerance is slowly fading from our streets and neighborhoods. How soon after the Arabic brothers in our community have been wiped out will others become targets? As an African-American it worries me when I see hate crimes downplayed and the people who carry out these vicious acts labled "patriots". Please, it really does start with us....love on another for loves sake. And so in closing........

the generation force fed hatred realigns former perceptions
purveyors of violent aptitude we destroy previous deceptions
free from the painted picture of dark deeds scrubbed clean
the world exhales and the melting pot once again.............GLEAMS
