~ Do They Know It's Christmas Time ~
Shining emerald, crimson, regal gold, Broken memories, faded, of Christmas old, Evergreen, aglitter with gemstones, bright, Smiling faces of Angels on Christmas night. Presents wrapped, lay under the well dressed tree, A time for entertaining, roasted dinner with the family, Loved ones. raised glasses and laughter reigns, One day, set aside, where we forget our hearts pains. But as we sit in front of an scarlet, blazing fire, We pull the crackers, eat pudding, fulfill our greed, desire, We forget those living out on the cold, harsh streets, Who sit outside the bolted soup kitchen, eager for food to eat. They do not want for presents, that hope is too far away, They only want the warmth we feel, on glorious, Christmas Day, Their families gone, or uncaring fiends, they worship Christ, For the wish that they will find a glimpse of charity, on this holy night, The stars twinkle in the moonlit blanket of a sky, They trudge on in search of a doorway, away from snow, knee high, Singing Carols, their breath misty in the frosty evening air, As they stare in windows, paint a picture, of love that brings them cheer, Raise your glasses, shed a tear, For those so far, and yet so near, As through snow and hail, they steadily crawl, Do they know its Christmas time at all? ![]() |
