Sound won't work

my sound won't work,
my little speaker icon thats normally in the lower right hand corner isn't there, when i go to "start/programs/accesories/entertainment/volume control" it still won't turn on, the option in "control panel/multimedia" won't show up either, i tried putting in new soundcard, don't work, do i need a driver, if i do, can someone tell me where to get one, what do i do..................  |

yes it sounds like you have a driver problem goto your soundcards website and update it. that should do it.

u might have to reinstall your volume control as well but probably not.
Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager If u have any !,x,? symbols you have a driver problem. If not, you need to reinstall the volume control. you will need your windows cd in order to do so.
