Get a Dynamic....its good to start out with..... its good for bright vocals which girls usually have...even though a condenser mic wil give you better quality it cost alot of money for one....with a Dynamic you dot need much equipment to operate because condenser rely on phatom power for pre amps/mixers....
so get a Dynamic "Unidirectional" Microphone for like $25-$40 at radioshack pZ |

That was the Back in the days trick... LoL Muffled ass vocals.... Get a Marshall M69VG <<< The mic is round $100 but you will love it..... You will need a pre amp and a D/A convertor to get the music into your comp... Solid mike though..

Aiight.
Shure make great fuckin' mics. The PG48 is about $70 with an XLR cable. It's tailored for speech and vocals. Cardiod polar pattern, dynamic cartridge. Also has it's own built in pop filter. Also, if you take a look around a hundred bucks will buy you a 4-track portable studio. Works on cassette. No fancy digital stuff, but it'll do the job. 'specially if you feed it back into the computer again and touch it up. Don't necessarily need Pro-Tools. You can hack together a track copyin' each individual section back and forth after you normalise it and stuff. You can do that shit in GoldWeave which is free (I think). That's $170 bucks to get yourself started on makin' a decent demo. Peace.
