a topic battle:

is a topic ya both do on a deep-topic like revalution or something u wouldnt normally spit about.... and get judge on how deep u got in the topic and so-on....

a collabo battle:

ya both get a topic like raw-fire which is an all-out verse u would do as a collabo song ya trying to make HOT... but insted of getting judge on who got deeper in the topic and focus more on a un-realisitc topic no-rapper is gonna do
u get judge on who had the better verse like say the welcome to D-block song the lox feat eminem who had the best verse??

well i thought eminem had the best verse i like the p-diddy line, flow better, more creative, a little multis there that was preety good and i thought all around better verse.....
