its so annoying. its not even wordplay, or nameplay or anything... and they almost always sound forced...

dude.....its part of elevating, us keystylers are doing what we can to elevate, if a punch doesnt work and we get told how it went wrong, we learn off of it...if were hittin them about there sig,name,avatar its going to hurt there pride emotionally...over the net, if it was in the street, that would be totally different, then we could diss them over what there wearing,how they dress..but its net and we try to hit them with what we can, and learn from our mistakes!

Buddy, let me be the first to talk some reality to you.

YOU WILL NOT ELEVATE FROM WRITING CRAPPY TEXT PUNCHLINES...
Half the time they have horrible flow, one syllable rhyme schemes, bad attempts at jokes or pathetic 'hard to decypher' concepts with bad wording.. How do you honestly think writing this is going to help you elevate in writing rap lyrics?

Pick up some beats and start writing multis and try your hardest to write stuff that is as good as what professional rappers write.. Listen to a lot of music and understand how they word their bars and set out their verses, then create a style that incorperates good wording, multi syllable rhyme schemes and lyrics that people would actually want to hear over beats...

If you put your mind to it, practice your ass off and remember to always quietly rap your stuff to beats to make sure they flow well... You will slowly build up a style and notice vast improvements in your writing. Unless ofcourse you dont have what it takes mentally to be a good lyricist which a lot of people dont... Even audio rappers, a lot of the time, just dont have the talent to become anything greater than hobby emcees.. But atleast if you drop your shitty text styles and go for a more well rounded actual rap style of writing lyrics, you will elevate to whatever point you are able to elevate to..

Writing text actually will only end up fucking your style around and a lot of textees who think they are lyrical gods seriously dont have as much going for them as they would like to think. Plus they usually have only one style of lyric writing... Not all... Just 99%..

Elevate properly dude... Broarden your perspective..
Text is only for people who rap as a hobby and enjoy the competition.. Dont lie to yourself.... Text battling does not elevate anyone in a good way.. Textees only elevate to being 'better textees'.. Not better rappers..

I ain't being funny Nos don't take this the wrong way but IMO you could say the same for topicals...purely coz a few topicals don't have the same type of flow as audio it has that 'text type' flow as well only difference really is that topical is subjected on something...actually text & topical are both about one thing...except topicals have more deep subjects in some cases...

(i know you ain't done a topical in ages so don't get offended by the comment)

Look at the previous post I made in this thread dude, the one on the first page.. But yeah..

While the post you quoted was mainly directed at diss battling in text, ofcourse it can be applied to topicals..

And I dont see why I would take offence..... I think topicals are just as gay as the next guy.. But I do them as song writing basically.. I write all my topicals to beats like I was writing tracks more or less......(only diff is my actual songs have way better topics) When I bag topicals, I mean people who do them usually have no idea how to write lyrics and this is shown by the pathetically stupid styles they write with (as seen in my previous post)..

I used to do topicals though because they gave me more freedom to write actual song lyrics instead of silly little generic text verses. That will help you elevate because that is real practice (like said in the post you quoted).

Before I start..lemme just say...I DO THINK AUDIO IS BETTER THAN TEXT.But i dissagree with some of your statements above.

1-Ur wrong about that part where you claim text doesn't help you elevate.Nowadays..when I read my verses on this site from when i first started..i cringe and say to myself.."wtf wuz I thinking?".And when you cringe at ur old work..then that is a sign of elevation.Also..Not to mention..it's expanded my vocab..and really helped my flow a lot.Cause when i first started..i used a basic rhyme scheme.Now..I use multis and shit a lot.And thx to text(mostly in cyphers where we key up shit tho)..I finnaly know how to freestyle in real life.Only part you were right about in that 1st paragraph..wuz the part where you said cats use basic rhyme schemes a lot.I agree with that 100%.But text does help you elevate.

NOW..I have a big problem with the rest of ur post.One question I have for you is..

Why are you trying to tell someone else how to run their shit?If that person wants to do text..then let em.And if you think text is gay and audio is cool..then go do your audio and be.Just don't critize someone else doing their own thing.U were bassically TELLING that person to drop the text and do this and that.Which is bassically telling that person to do wat u do cuz wat u are doing is right and the other guy is doing is wrong.When i don't think you should do that.Your no god at this rapping or nothing.
