Download steam and buy the half life 2 silver pack. Probably the best game purchase you could ever buy... plus its pretty cheap.
You get half life 2, half life 2 deathmatch, counterstrike source, day of defeat source, half life source, and all the sick mods that people release using the source engine as well as all the mods that were released for half life 1. Other than that, get black and white 2 when it comes out.
