. . . . . . .. . . . . yea ui would post it in the GFX forum but its kinda dead anywayi want to turn my hat and scarf red, and my gloves and sweater green, and make it look like those were the original colors, how do i do that? if ur wondering, its for my christmas album cover

You gotta highlight the area with a lasso tool (poly is your best choice with that dark of colors) then press ctrl + u > colorize and there ya go. Choose ya colors.

You can, if you don't then it could make it a weird color, but it depends. As dark as that pic is, I doubt desaturating would make any difference.
