In an act of what can only be described as the love of a son for his mother, Eminem has not only agreed to pay his dying mother's medical bills, he is attempting a reconciliation to make peace between them, if what we hear in the gossip-sphere is right. The Detroit rapper, still reeling from the death of his good friend Proof, killed in a nightclub shootout, has also been dealing with yet another separation from his twice-wed wife, Kim, all while trying to raise two little girls and focus on his rehab issues.

But to his credit, Eminem has taken the focus off himself and decided he would help his mother Debbie Mathers-Briggs, who is suffering from stage four breast cancer, to make sure she is comfortable and as worry-free as possible as she faces an uphill climb against a disease that has already spread to other parts of her body.

Debbie, 51, and her son have had a hard time putting the past behind them, as Eminem wrote songs that were highly derogatory of both his mother and his wife. But a source tells the Sun that, "The nightmare Debbie has been going through with her cancer has put everything in perspective.

"She is very weak and knows the prognosis is bleak. She is desperate to build bridges with her son and put things right before it's too late."

"Eminem has recently started helping her financially with her medical bills, they have spoken a few times on the phone and now she desperately hopes he will visit her."

Mathers-Briggs was diagnosed in 2003 and faced bankruptcy a year later due to mounting hospital fees. During that difficult time, she said of her son, "I don't want his money. It would be wonderful though, if he just called me with some honesty and sincerity. A lot of people say I am really dying of a broken heart."
