Track Volume

IP:

I put all of the tracks that I recorded recently onto a cd to see how they sound and to check the volume, but I found something strange when listening to a few of them. 2 of my tracks' volume are extremely high for some reason. I then opted to view the track in cep2 to see if the volume was high, but it wasnt. In fact, this one particular track wave was smaller than the ones with normal volume.
Can anyone help me solve this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. My brother said it could be that the bit rate is higher than 128 or some sh*t like that. If that is the case, how do I change the bit rate for an individual track?
Thanks

your 'quieter' track might sound louder because you were clipping.

to avoid that in the future, use compression on all your layers individually and use a noise gate.

if the beat always clips then you'se still doing something wrong. if you gotta turn the beat up that loud to make your vocals sound right then you're doing both of em wrong.

it all boils down to this: compress all layers individually before the program mixes it all down to export it.

keeping your slf and your settings consistent from track to track will pay dividends

no no no
Im sayin, you know when you get a beat or w/e then you just load it onto the multitrack?
it was that, and I recorded my vocals regularly
its strange, cause all the tracks sound the same on myspace AND in windows media player
its just when I put it on a cd those 2 were loud as hell
is there a way I can change the bit rate?

yeah you could change the bitrate but that ain't gonna turn an volumes down, just the fidelity. that's the wrong way.

the right way, once again is compression.

if you got it all mixed down then yeah it's too late. compressing will help, but not where you need it most.

why don't you guys save your raw files is beyond me.
