Is Rap Currently Whack?

IP:

i seen this topic at http://www.SOHH.com and i wanted to hear more input on this....

i think that rap is whack now a days...heres a good example...

is it just me or is more then half the songs you hear on the radio nowadays a remix? i mean a good remix once in a while is a treat...but everyone is doin a variation of majic stick and 21 questions....

im also real sick of this new genre of rap i call "love rap"...(horrible title)....and these beef tracks are terrible...just plain awful...

think about the main labels now aday and the product there commin out with...

roccafella - im not feelin the bonny and clyde shit...but i do like freeway and some other new fella tracks...but i also hate damon dash...

shady - at least these guys are original

murda - does anyone even listen to murda anymore?

bad boy - how many i need a girl parts can there possibly be...what are we on 7 now?

cash money, etc. - probably the worst label out right now...how did these guys blow up in the first place

im to lazy to keep listing these...feel free to add...

i just wanna here some other opinions

its not really that rap is gettin more"whack". Its just after recent things that the hip hop scene is now gettin more popular and is being commercialised more. SO ull c a lot more "junk" but the old roots r still there. The new movement is here to expose the hip-hop culture all be it lackin the deepness of other work.

This could b a good thing for the industry. These new "whack" things r just there mayb to make money and expose the industry. It mayb just a steppin stone to reveal other hip hop talent, its just that the listener has to delve into it more to find the real stuff. Unless ur one of those ppl who want it to remain underground forever and then leave it to die out which is no good. Mayb not totally commercialise it but at least expose it to other ppl who may really like the culture and have an inner natural talent.

Rap and Hip Hop is what you make of it...

If no emcee appeals to you then it's obvious that you're no fan of Hip Hop... plain and simple

LoL...

Rap Really Destroyed Itself To Be Honest.... It Used To Be Acceptable In And Before The Mid 90's, Then It Just Fell Into Purgatory.

Nowadays We Are Just Fully Over Blessed And Inundated With Fake Artists And Concepts..

Sad But True

it's really what the tv, and the radio puts out thats wack.

every track on heavy rotation is grabage*. pick up some mix tapes.. not kay slay or clue... but some shit like green lantern... where you would get quality music for your 10 bucks.

but it's kinda true what n-demik said... shit my playlist conisits of tracks from 86-96. thats the era when rappers got "paid", but not in the mills*.

*garbage.( for you geeks in the audience)
*millions.
