~Consequence~
{true story}

WE MET. . .

The note slid across his desk freshman year, an occurrance he did not think would occur//
She told him that she was new and asked him if he would go out with her//
Her long golden braids amazed the eye of the beholder//
The thought of her enchanted his mind. . nothing happened until she tapped on his shoulder//
"Did you get my note?" her pillow-soft lips asked from her voice//
A conversation wordless except for the shy 'yes' that checked the answer to the choice//

THE TIME THEY SHARED . . .

Months turned into years, conversations flourished, endless information//
How in-common they were and how they didn't want to give into new hot-temptations//
Local carnivals, movies, dinners. . hopelessly in love, forever romantics//
Nights under stars, kisses and flowers were this romantics antics, a picture no artist could graphic//
Senior prom queen, she asked him, "baby, i wanna be a goddess please carry me"//
He brought her to the stage and shared the dance under the blue light and before the chorus sang its last notes, he got on one knee and asked "Your my goddess and always to be . . babygurl, will you marry me?//

THEIR LIFE . .

Five years later, small apartment across town, with two children and this man is an alcoholic//
Hooked since his birthday, December 21st. . 21 years, spent night after night poundin beers, a picture of his wife and kids, and no money occupy his wallet//
Comes home drunk, yelling at the kids for keeping their toys out; "They'll be consequences!" he yells//
Daddy cant provide any bedtime fairy tales..passes out as vodka occupies the room that smells//
Mother does what she can for her babies, but is always at work//
Late at night, she looks through her year book and reads over and over ; "Worlds greatest couple" and starts to hurt//

THE NIGHT

One night shes had enough of all the 'consequence' threats and is taking the kids down south//
Husband wouldn't know, couldn't speak. . too much alcohol in his mouth, to even think that they left the house//
"Where are we goin mommy" little Angel asks from the back seat over-head//
Your father has a problem, and one of these days he's gunna hurt someone, or kill them dead..//
Husband sets to leave early, starts the engine, floors his truck, passes roads, stop signs or not//
Brakes are shot, but he does not attempt to stop//
Bein drunk makes him think, he seems to believe everything is seen clearer//
Except for vision as he catches a glimps of his wife out her passenger door mirror//
His little boy, 6 years old, points in expectations that it was his father comming home from 'the store'//
The father, puts a smile on and with a tear in his eye, un-aware that hes not stopping, smashes 60 mph into his whole lifes' side door//

Never believed he had a conscience. . . never listened to his
own word, and left to deal with his own consequence.. .
( This man was my uncle)

* * I could have done this a lot better but it doesn't look
like zainy's gunna show * *
