3. Tell the tale of a tragedy even that is seen through the eyes of a child



lying awake in my room, waiting for my mother
it's two am, she's still not home, god i love her
something or other, leaves this feeling of fear
i settle myself down, give it an hour, she'll be here
my cotton sheets feel rough against my cheek
i feel like a falling leaf, praying it's all a dream
pinch above my knee, awake, where did she go?
tears fall like raindrops as i look out my window
wishing that the pain stops, oh a car is approaching
it looks like her, fear, oh nevermind it keeps going
not even slowing, giving a moment to breath
or glance at this 8 year old, or feel what he see's
i keep waiting nothing happens, hours pass
visions consume thoughts, a death and a crash
no, i nervously laugh, she's okay, just working late
but ehh, its 3 am and she left like around eight
tears racing grounds found a place on my face
suddenly i feel like dying gasping for an escape
thinking of hate, i feel empty a hollow tree in clothes
i slip into a frenzy, slamming my fist to my pillow
fear, incertinity, i tell god, jesus i hate this stuff,
then like a miracle the phone rings, and wakes me up....

i race to the living room, relief flowed in my veins
mad at myself for consuming in such terrible things
all just a dream, i answer the phone surely its her
am i in trouble what did i do, she never calls from work
i picked up the reciever let out a shaky "hello"
his name is dr. jones, i hold tightly on my pillow
"son last night a drunk driver approached a red light
and went right through,
i'm so sorry, your mother was hit and died at 3:45 am
here in the hospital..."
