I don't think hip hop is dying... I think in general it's becoming more mainstream but it's certainly not dying.

I think rap, as in the technique of rapping instead of singing, is going to eventually branch off into a few different, defined genres. Right now we have gangsta rap, abstract, etc, and I think we'll get more categories like these in the future.

I don't think rap is dying. i think it has expanded so much that it's become common place. if you listen to the radio and watch alot of videos you'll see that rap doesn't belong to Hip Hop heads any more. It belongs to everyone who excepts it, so anyone who can appeal the masses gets the airplay. Before when rap wasn't digested by everyone True Hip Hop fans control Raps output making rap music stay close to it's true form. Nuff said.

in the immortal words of Black Star "where were u the day hiphop died?Is it to early to morn is it to late to Rise?" Hiphop is dying a slow death, believe it. The bigger it gets, the more people get involved and make decisions for the emcee and they start to have more input to what gets on the CD then the actual artist does.
