If you go to a computer store you can get a modem installed... Sometimes theres modems on the motherboard but theyre usually pretty shit.

If its fairly new it should have a modem already.. depending on how much it costs..

The modem needs to be wireless if you want to have portable internet.. then you'll have to find places with wireless internet routers and whatnot..

If you want to have internet just at home, get an external modem and just plug the network cable in... Im assuming you've already got a computer with internet access since you're on RV.. So unplug the network cable from that and plug it into your laptop..

I think there is a way, but it's a lot of money. Like $500+

Your best chance is to get wireless kit, install it, and when you go to a shop or something plug it in to a able modem. Seems like more and more places are making the internet accessible. I wonder when they will put modems in the bathroom.

I dont really know too much about wireless internet cos its pretty recent..

Its probably possible though... Since PDA's and Mobiles can get internet pretty much anywhere..

Try looking on some techy forum or googling more info on it...

What One M.B said about the external modems is correct if you want dsl or cable high speed access while at home. There might be internal modems available for a laptop, but I say stick with an external modem that uses an ethernet connection (RJ45) to connect your computer/laptop to the internet. After that, get a wireless router and plug the modem into that and get a wireless internet card if your laptop doesn't have WiFi built in. That way you can have internet access anywhere in the house even when you are on the crapper. They now have 108 mbps WiFi cards and routers available.

For when you are in the car with a laptop, you can try to connect to nearby WiFi routers that are not encrypted. Basic encryption will keep most people out, but most people just set it up out of the box and leave their internet access wide open so anyone nearby with a wireless laptop can leech off their connection. There are websites online that list open routers in the various cities. As long as you aren't doing really important stuff like online banking, just go ahead and use them. If you go to CompUSA or whatever, they have keychains that will identify wireless routers nearby without you having to break out the laptop. Or if you are just lazy, sign up for something like Tmobile Hotspot and you'll be able to jump on the internet at places like
starbucks, airports, hotels, malls, kinkos, and other places that offer access.
