IP: EB37 FE1E
The Music Industry Fight AIDS' "Hearts & Voices," benefit concert is the organizer of The Christmas For Katrina Toy Drive & Concert Event to be held Saturday, December 17th from 2pm-7pm at The Skate Key Entertainment Complex located at 220 East 138th Street in the Mott Haven section of The Bronx. Performers include Juelz Santana who has the #1 hip-hop album in the country, Reggae superstar, Sizzla, the first reggae artist to be signed to The Dame Dash Music Group, and Dangerous/Family-Ties/ Atlantic Records recording artist, Deemi, "The Hoodz Princess." The toy drive/concert is sponsored by WPRW-FM Power 105.1 and Toys For Tots in conjunction with The American Red Cross, promotional support provided by Trace Magazine.
Tonya Lewis, Chief Operating Office and President of The EARS Entertainment Group, explains why EARS feels this Toy Drive is meaningful, "I watched in horror as the lives of people were stripped away by Hurricane Katrina. I saw the faces of children, clinging to teddy bears and toys who lost everything. Although I gave a financial contribution, the holidays are the hardest time to deal with tragedy and many of these people are separated from their extended families. We wanted to create an event where we, New Yorkers, could bring comfort to these families living in our area. We are extremely grateful that Juelz Santana, Sizzla, and Deemi have joined us in that effort."
Juelz Santana, who was the first artist to confirm, will be performing songs from his newly released album, WHAT THE GAME'S BEEN MISSIN, including the hit single "There It Go (The Whistle Song)." What The Game's Been Missin' is the #1 hip-hop album debuting in the top position on Billboard's Hip-Hop/Rap Charts (beating out Chamillionaire, Nelly, and Big Boi of Outkast). The album is also one of the Top 10 albums in the country according to Billboard's Top 200 Charts. Dangerous/Family-Ties/Atlantic Records singing sensation, Deemi, will release her debut, Soundtrack Of My Life, Spring 2006. Jamaican sensation, Sizzla Kalonji, the latest acquisition to The Dame Dash Music Group, is an exciting, and electrifying addition to this concert. General admission is $10 and an unwrapped toy.
