You don't have to fight in 120 degree weather and worry about dying with no way for your family to get an income after you are gone. You don't have to think about where you are gonna live since you have no job and no shelter at all.

You are getting an education, you have a job with a steady income, you are able to read and write, you can speak your mind without getting in trouble, you live in some kind of house, you have technology to bring you happiness, you can talk to people you know and love, you are able to have money, you can eat, drink, sleep, all in the comfort of knowing that you will not die because of a foreign country. What you need and what you want is something you need to really look at. Cuz you may think you need certain things, but you will live without them. You just want them and you are use to them. Cut off your internet if you need extra money, you will save $120+.

But you want that luxury don't you? Those who live for luxuries will find themselves broken by greed.

And word to rev. I could get a steady job and live life with a lower income. But the question this poses is at what cost? How would my kids view me if they thought I was a fucking bumb. Society views people with low salaries as worthless, pathetic, pieces of shit. The only way to have a lower income and feel good about myself and relate to others would be forefitting the values I have grown up with for my entire life. Also, thank you for pointing out all those plusses, which are true and probably beneficial to most pessimistic people, I just find it impossible to lead a stress-free life...

It is impossible to live a stress free life, no matter where you go you experience stress. Sickness, family, eating, getting food, all is stress.

It all depends on what you value. Live how you want to live, but be ready for what it will take to live like that. It's like buying a house with a $800 month rent with a minimum wage job and complaining. Just doesn't make sense. Whatever life you want, you know what it will take and how much it will take to achieve your goals. You can complain, but if you only do it because of society, then you're probably gonna quit anyway.

I used to feel the same way. I even attempted twice, three times if you include living a self-destructive lifestyle. It's IMPOSSIBLE to be depressed once you realize that your depression stems from OTHER PEOPLE'S opinion of you, and not from your own opinion of your self. You'd feel like you're on cloud nine till someone tries to come up with reasons you shouldn't be.

Depression is a cycle that most people go through. It's just something that people have to get over. They have to overcome it...think of it as a battle.

There's a big difference between people you know committing suicide, and people making threads on the internet saying they're contemplating suicide.

And that's the problem there. If you're depressed and you're on the internet regularly, get the fuck off the internet and engage in some social interaction. And don't come back on the internet until you're not depressed anymore. That all seems like common sense to me.

If you're a regular socialite and depressed, then go talk to someone. And nobody should ever have the mentality that they don't want to talk to someone about being suicidal...unless, of course, you enjoy being suicidal. Then you should have no reason to worry about it.

And also, if you're usually social and you become depressed, don't take it to the internet. By doing that you're only inviting ridicule upon yourself, which will in turn depress you even more. More common sense for you all.
