C01U better than the NT1-A? AHAHAHAA FUCK no man lmao. The C01, 990 etc are 'begginers mics' which is why they sell for a hundred or less. The NT1-A is not in that same class by any means.

^^lol it's cool man, when I had mine I thought the same thing. Takes some time but eventually you realize why the mic, though a great start, is under a hundred bucks.

I gotta say thanks to the guys at geetar center for letting me pester the crap out of them and trying out the hardware before I bought it in most cases. They got rooms set up for you to play with their equipment and always have a 'floor model' to show you.

And there's nothin wrong with that!

I'm working on getting a new set-up... my dynamic mic did some wonders but I like the condenser much better of course. I like recording at other places, but there's nothing like home sweet home, ya feel... You can get up at 3 o clock in the morning and record if you felt like it.

My very near set-up is this:
MXL MXLV63M Condenser Studio Microphone with Shockmount
ART Tube MP Studio V3 Mic Preamp
Audio-Technica ATH-M40fs Precision Studiophones

I have a Pro-Line Mic Stand Already and Pop Filter.
So, what else would I need (an interface?) and for the cables, what's the best option? My room is small so I don't need no 30 ft. long wires all over the place.

man WORD to the 3 o clock recordings lol. As for cables and what not, some really good cables would be monsters. Anything above that as far as quality is gonna be a pretty penny - and of course you know, shortest lengths needed. Oh yeah, an interface, I'm a software guy my self so I do the mixing in the program instead of spending extra duckets on hardware with more limits and less clarity. I used the M-Audio Fastrack USB, since..I really only record with one mic, so why get one with more if I'll never use it? From there, just a phantom an phantom powwer supply and you're good.
