It's actually not a step up son...It's a multi directional mic that's good for choirs and instruments in a room recording, whereas the C01u is a uni-directional mic good for one person standing in front of it...

Don't get me wrong, the C03 is a good mic, but it's not better than the C01.

actually, as for your last question, most of the places i found it available were international stores, i had to look hard for an American one that had it, cuz i think its really new... but, here are the specifications... the list price is like $380 American i think but i got it for $130 at www.sweetwater.com

but if i'm not mistaken, the Co3 is going to be just as good for solo, maybe even better since it is newer, it just has the additional option of recording multiple inputs... correct?

i just wanna make sure im not losing any quality in solo recording by going with the Co3 over the Co1...

I like how what I said was basically ignored. lol

Okay...do you bro

But, I'm telling you...The C03 is a multi-directional mic, which means it's better suited to picking up sources from many angles, and not just in front of the mic like the C01. So, unless you plan on doing live sessions with mad cats like a choir, the C01 is just as good quality-wise.

aight yo, i just called back and spoke with the dude again, and he was fuckin awesome and said that you're right, if im recording strictly solo with no instruments, then the Co1 would be equal... so i switched em out... that was probably the best customer service ive ever had tho yo, i'd suggest EVERYBODY ordering from www.sweetwater.com in the future... and its free shipping - guranteed in 3 days max

i had just been falsely told that the Co3 was the new version of the Co1... but since they're equal if recording solo with no instruments, i could use that extra $50

thanks yall... now i cant wait to get that shit man

16bit?? damn 24bit is the minimum standard now, 16...ehhh....passable

None of the write-up tells you anything about the mics ability though.

you have a frequency response chart by any chance?

shoulda got the Rode NT1A, best home studio mic you can get, considering even the real studios use it. But yea word, thats a good mic too, but dont forget you need a phantom power supply to make that mic work, or an amlifier or however you spell it with usp connection since most likely you use a comp to record. which is another 100-200 bucks lol.. g'd luck =P
