Here's the answer to those who wonder "What's wrong with today's schools?"...simple

Research has shown that most students are of a certain personality type. There's something called "Process Communication" that identifies certain types of people. Most students fall into the category of "Promoter/Rebel"...These are people who need constant interaction/socialization and high levels of excitement, but in short/constant bursts. The same research shows that most teachers are NOT of that personality type, but the exact opposite. Therefore, the majority of the students in school are wired one way, but the system itself isn't set up to cater to them.
Go figure. There's also something called the Kagan Strategies, which stress Cooperative Learning groups for kids throughout their development. Cooperative learning groups is more than just working in a group, but using socialization and personal accountability within the context of class work to further student achievement. It works people. But, again, most schools don't do this. |

Yeah they sure do like giving indivisuals titles don't they. Nobody can't really have a personality of their own right. What category do you fall under?

individuals titles? It's nothing negative bro...Rebel isn't a bad thing, it's just a term...Adults can be grouped the same way Research has shown that the teachers who reach the students most cater to their individual needs (including personality type). After taking that test, I had a pretty even spread. But, I'm mostly a Promoter, those are people who need constant stimulation, but in bursts. In other words, sustained fun is draining to Promoter types. We just need fun all throughout the day, but with breaks. |

The term rebel sorta gives everyone a constant resistance quality. Like they're not being cooperative just for the sake of being a rebel. I don't like when people analyze a huge group of people like that, especially the youth considering we dont have the opportunity to label THEM.

It's not a negative term. The term is used synonomously with "fun seeker" in this research. Adults are also coined "rebels" in this research. Something else I liked about this research is that it explained not only the differences in personality types, but that no one is better than another, just different. Their argument is, that if you want to "reach" students, you have to cater to their personality needs, which, for most is the need for socialization. 1 |
