Being poor is no excuse for killing ppl.

I was starving @ a point in my life. I ate McDonald's every night with my mom and we lived in a shitty apartment complex filled with Bloods and Crips.

I played basketball with B's and C's next to the dumpster in a parking lot a few yards from my house...... a street sign being the basket.

Did I resort to robbing, killing, raping, or even JOINING either of the gangs?

Obviously most of us live in these areas and people KNOW THAT. Wtf when you come to the hood are you gonna expect to see more white people than blacks? damn... i just had an interview in VA today... if i take the job i'd be working in the Reston area... i really don't want to bring my kids out there if shyt is going on like that... i mean... the pay is good and all but who wants to deal with getting shot and killed on the way to or from work?... we all know how expensive it is to live in certain areas in DC especially when you got a family... c'mon... a 1 bedroom apt in Reston is a gee?!!! and then people are forced to move to lower income, higher crime ridden areas to survive if they got families... if you don't have 2 supplemental incomes within your family you might as well mark a target on ya chest and lable yaself a victim of either the crime... or just plain old racist propaganda... damn... this is really starting to influence my decision about moving out there for this job.

i see what you are saying nos... but at the same time i see what everyone else is trying to convey.... a lot of these black people are "forced " into these situations.... don't ever believe that the majority of the poor people in these areas actually WANT to be poor or live the way they do.... let's say a black person had a decent job and basically had all the cred in the world to get promoted... in our society... most blacks experience a stage where the company just won't promote them even though they have been with a company forever and have more than enough experince and capabilities to do the job.... now... more times than none... someone else of a different race or someone with less qualifications gets the job.... now ya got a pissed off black person who no longer wants to work with that company... it affects work performance... now one of two things are gonna happen... he'll get fired.... or he'll quit for being underappreciated.... here's where the delimma kicks into overdrive... the same person still has bills to pay... same person tries for other jobs and the question comes up... "why'd you leave your last job"... you can't say you were fired cuz that leads to more questions that will make it even harder for you to get the job... you can't trash the last company because the new company will think the issue was you and that you'll do the same to them the first time an issue arises.... and you can't say you just quit because that doesn't show stability....

i mean, sure you can stick it out at a dead end job and hope ya boss changes his mind... but realistically.... would you stay at a job where you know you'll never get beyond a certain point in ya career?

this is what happens with a lot of us (black) folks... we're not all lazy and the majority of us actually do want to better our lives.... this ain't like the old days... and realistically... the poor pay more taxes than the rich (referring to an earlier post)and i base that off the strength that the poor drastically outnumber the rich... a rich dude don't feel that tax crunch that a poor person feels... if you making a 6 figure income and the gov taxes you... you still got a pretty penny to sit on depending on ya lifestyle... but that poor person making like 20,000 a year?... how da hell is he supposed to live after taxes if he got a family... and a lot of folks make even less than that... you do the math

but i do agree that it's a poor thing as well as a race thing.... the gov don't care about anyone who ain't got money already and they can't stand any minority who ain't willing to be a yes man or a puppet like Condoleeza Rice... i saw her on tv the other day and i coulda swore i saw strings and Bush on the balcony making her dance!

Yo man.. I agree 100%.. The stuff your talking about jobs, thats racism.. Straight up... But I aint arguing against that in any of my posts.. And to be honest, the government cant really be blamed for what goes on in corperations, because corperations fund your government and basically control it to a large extent. Big business owners? Thats the commitees of 100's that sponsor your country more or less. Esp the media corps.

My tip has nothing to do with 'why' people are poor. More that in this situation, I feel everyones real quick to pull the race card and act like the government hates blacks because action is more likly to be taken in areas populated with the rich.

I dont dismiss any of the underlying race issues that create the situations where minoritys come off with higher percentages of poverty than the majority (reletive only to the amount of people in minoritys). I'm just sensitive to the fact that people often like to pull the race card and rag on the government when its not always their fault.

This situation specifically sounds far more concearned with class than a lot of people in this thread would like to admit.
