I mean emcees tend to relate to fixations they have with things, and if you're a first time listener to something they've recycled before..you won't necessarily understand whats being said. This said its only really exampled in Aesop Rocks lyrics and few other artists like Mac Lethal and *cough, cough, cough, rolls eyes*

i guess i'm missing our point...

makes him what way? meaning less?

yes, emcees do include stuff that may not make sense to everyone else, but is fitting to themselves. but there is meaning, or shall i say, we find meaning anyhow because why would we like a song which didn't make sense? I do agree than when you jump into something you may miss things, but I wasn't necessarily referring to Aesop.

aes writes in metaphores everything he says in all his verses are metaphores. I know you didn't wanna hear this but it is made ta be taken by everyone in a different way. Your supposed to feel it for how you relate the metaphore to your own life. he's not talking about his life, usually he is talking about life in general or the industry. That's the intrigue of abstract hip hop is taking someone else's thought and turning it into your own.

on the other hand grouch is dope too definately a good suggestion. Or on the abstract side i like slug's shit too but his styles a little hard for alot of people to swallow.

"Sometimes people take it too far. I mean, I don't know... I spend time with what I write, and to a degree I try to make shit connect behind the scenes, but sometimes cats waaaaay over analyze shit. It's cool I guess. If kids find some crazy other meaning for shit and it helps them through their day then that's cool, but I hate when people step to me like "what does it mean when you say... ?" I don't really answer those types of questions. I don't make shit up and everything I say makes sense to me. That's all that is important. I'll tell you what though, I never really thought my shit was that abstract. Most of the time I just think of interesting ways to say "fuck you." That's my main goal."

-Aesop Rock

By the way, "Big Bang" is about his hopes and dreams and plans for the future. Basically, where he wants to go with this "artistry." The trick is to not dissect shit word for word, but focus on the macrocosm. The minute you try to decipher line for line and get specific about it, that is when contradictions rise.

As for my own crazy lyrics, take them anyway you want C-Section, they are open for interpretation.

and Abandon All Hope, when you try to understand those lyrics, think of ABANDONING ALL HOPE.

every fifth marks lands diagonal to symbolize your downfall

and so on.......

^ nice explanation.....

and aesop has some less-complicated songs too... has anyone heard 11:35 with mr. lif? If you hear it a few times, pretty much everything Ace says is understandable
