Confessions

The night sky is glowing to make a free show of lights rarely viewed or enjoyed in the city except for one girl. She curls up on the front porch, watching her breath disappear into nothing, much like her life. She sits silently, waiting for an answer.

From who? God? Her mind waits for an answer.

Silence.

The pitch black midnight will not give it to her. She breathes another icy breath. Silence. She is alone.

Many moons she has spent wondering, can the stars see all? They led the three wisemen, but leave me to die. Can the moon hear me weep in this starry confessional? Hear me out, please.

Many mistakes I've made, many debts need to be paid
What I smoked, sniffed or swallowed, all the drama that followed
The choices I made, the path I have laid
Deciding to live or die- it all happened under your sky

She shut her eyes and made a wish, though no shooting star graced the sky with her presence that night. Darkness starts to consume her now, pinching her skin purple and drawing her lips to a quiver. She couldn't wait for her wish any longer. The moon winked at her as she returned inside.

She was heard.
