If you buy some candy and go around selling it, does the person give their money to the candy store and then the canndy store gives you a percent? Do I have to get into the mechanics of publishing, anyway? They buy off shelves, store gives to publisher for the books they bought, you get a percent in royalty. If you have your own copies, you're free to sell them for as much as you wish(with the added bonus of being able to increase the value a good five or so dollars just by taking five seconds to write your name.
