Common bible "quotes" that you've heard that ARE NOT in the bible.
IP:
This is a serious issue to me. If someone has actually studied, not just read, but studied the bible, then you can easily discern when someone mis quotes scripture. I find that many people not only misquote scripture, but make up things altogether! For example, we've all heard: "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." Well, that may sound deep, but it's not in the bible. It's something that has been passed down from generation to generation that has a ring of truth to it. When you become adepth at knowing scripture, anything that conflicts with the Word of God raises a red flag. You have to study though. You can't just take people at their word, even preachers, whom commonly misquote scripture.
Another example: God doesn't hear a sinner's prayer. ^^That's simply not true. Here's another example of a scripture taken out of context and distorted because of the misinterpretation of the reader. God DOES hear a sinner's prayer. If he didn't, how would anyone ever get saved!?! STUDY PEOPLE. LEARN THE BIBLE. 1 |
