no it wouldnt cuz the desert is mostly rock under the sand you cant dig through and the inds would keep throwing dirt in the hole as you dig it 14 feet is too deep to dig in the desert without machinery and the winds raise dirt off the body and after a little time will reveal the corpse so no.

Just bury the body as deep as you can. By the time the body is revealed, if you didn't leave fingerprints behind you'd be good. Because, any hair, etc. would be taken away with the sand. And, the odds somebody just happens to be taking a walk through the middle of the desert and finds an uncovered, dead body are extremely low.
