Knowledge and an education is VERY poorly supported in the black community. Why? Because of who are our "leaders" now, rap artists. And who are the most promoted and heavily succesful artists? The ones who talk about ditching school and selling crack and killing people. Look at what our priorities are made to be, as soon as someone gets their paycheck they wanna buy a chain, rims, gear, etc. making it harder for them to survive and get good homes etc.

thats not the farthest i've seen.. i've helped alot of kids at after school programs and such i even helped our schools basketball star (one of the only african american's in the school)with his homework...i neevr said they were bad people..i'm just stating what i have experienced and observed...just because the black population decides to idolize a bunch of lucky losers dosent mean i'm going to support it and give it the thumbs up

Nobody SHOULD give the thumbs up. The fact is you need to recognize that it's a fault among them and not criticize them for it. By your logic, someone who grew up in a house filled with satanic rituals should be looked down upon if that's all they know...

It's not the music industry's fault though.

It doesn't take an IQ over 30 to see that there are only like, 100 or less, truly successful rap artists.

Why is the music industry getting blamed because the majority of black people can't get there shit together? "Well, our leaders.." It's all just a fucking excuse.

Everybody knows that a good education is pretty much a necessity in today's day and age, so fucking get one. Everybody WANTS things, like chains and gear and shit, but how many successful Americans would be willing to give in to those temptations so they can feel cool by putting rims on their car if they truly can't afford it?

It's not that fucking hard to understand.

The music industry affects people's lives.. Sure.
It's the music industry's fault that the majority of black people can't do well in school.. Fuck no.

I never said it was anyones fault, but you cannot deny thats who the majority of young black men ESPECIALLY idolize more than anyone else.

If you can't see that, then wow.

You just blamed rap artists because the majority of black people don't take education seriously.

I never said I couldn't see that they idolize them.. I agree with you, that they do.. But it's their own damn fault for trying to live like them "wanting to buy chains and rims" as you said, if they can't afford it.

i dont think that their goal is to keep them more interested in school...i think their goal is to invent a class that the black students should be good at so that they can raise their averages and make that area's students look better, overall

I never said it did. I was just responding to Socrates post about how black people are failing because their "leaders" are rappers.

I don't support ebonics as a curriculum. That's just retarded.

Word. My bad then, but I dont' agree with socrates at all. There are good and bad influences all over the place, what you choose to take in is your own business and why you fail/succeed as a result is also your own responsibility.

Now where the hell is Turban with this thread that'll surely be his downfall, lol.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Oh, I get what you're saying. The ghettos of this country are just like jails, in that nobody in them knows shit about the world of "being successful."

Bullshit.

The people of the ghetto that are successful ARE drug dealers and in bigger terms rap artists who convey those messages.

You seriously don't see that?

I mean obviously you seem to think Bill Gates and rich doctors move into the ghetto.
