Most Gospel artist make hooks outta Bible scriptures as well as their verses.
If you listen to Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and a few others and compare.. They do not sound repetitive... They do ultimately sing bout thanking God and giving him praise but they have their own style. But for Mass Choirs they may sound repetitive because many of them use old songs and make albums outta them and do them a little differently than another choir may have.
