That kind of close minded thinking is analogous to that of your rock/punk/metal listener who wont listen to or associate with rappers because they represent the ills of society. Drugs, bitches, money, gangs, etc. If hip hop cant accept a guy because he's different in his sexual preference then hip hop is being hypocritical in trying to advocate "freedom" of expression and right to aesthetic pursuit without having people point fingers in bigotry. We might as well kneel, look up and shout "Sieg Heil" if we make leeway for cultural double standards. Last edited by Maleficent : 11-12-06 at 08:46 PM. |

Nope wrong, if you actually listen to politicians or journalists and dont believe everything you hear about them, they dislike hip hop because of what it stands for (urban violence, money, drugs, sex, etc), lastly the african american lifestyle thing is just a makeshift afrocentric people come up with to assert themselves as victims and "products" of their environment.

basically when rappers get fame, they dont go against the establishment...so, maybe if a gay rapper became famous he would stop going against the establishment....and become straight???

All Im saying is, if you expect white collar people to think good of hip hop why not just make an example? Why do we have to portray negativity and the mundane? If you want hip hop to become a cultural movement you have to start with a positive outlook and an analysis of the real problems of society and not just whine mindlessly in rhymed verses. The only way you can expect hip hop to grow is to provide all kinds of people, with no discrimination in heart, the opportunity to experience the wonderful thing that is hip hop.
To stop going against the establishment is just conforming to the establishment, because if you, the african american preacher of political distress towards minorities discriminates against a specific type of people, you're just setting yourselves up for more of the same. |

you're acting like 100% of rap thats out is about negative things? Politicians dont hate rap because its so called negative. Politicians hate rap because they're old and white. Politicians also hate video games. Different politicians like and hate different things. You cant group something as vast as that all into liking or disliking one specific thing. Thats exactly why there is a democratic and republic party now
