I've noticed that some people have a different idea of what exactly freestyling is. I always thought it meant spitting lyrics that you honestly made up as you went along. Some people believe that it is coming up with concepts before hand, then putting them into words later. And others believe that it is predetermined what you will spit beforehand......what is freestyling to you?

Freestyling for me is when I just throw on a beat and start spittin' spontaneous, it provides a better show for people when it's straight off the top. But people say freestyling on this site is waiting to check in to your battle before you write your verse...

nah, freestylin' ain't ONLY usin' shit that's brand new. Like if you ask a lot of people who free a lot. They all have a 16 bar verse ready to use in FREE's ONLY. cuz usin' shit you recorded is fuckin' bitch move. But if you get stuck people use that. Also, usin' punches you never USED in battles before would be aiight too. Cuz I saw this article that was in the source about it. And Murphy Lee and some other guy said, "Fuck those people who say freein' is only off the top". He said freestylin' really means spittin' for as long as you want WITHOUT fuckin' up. It had some other guys but I forgot their names. But that's word.

Hes got it sort of. Most cats when they free, just free... like make up shit on the spot.. But if they get stuck they have somethin to use to give em time to think... I dont think a 16 bar verse is fair, but depenfing on how skilled you are you need more time to think that shit up..

exactly my point.....but that's what happens when you get 30 minutes to write 10 lines.....I sure as hell know that I'm gonna think of something really fucking quick, but none of my battles are straight off the dome. I honestly don't use anything that I haven't thought up within the time frame given though. But when it comes to actually spittin a freestyle, I won't lie, I suck. I write all of my songs and audio battles, mostly within an hour or so, but I write em.....
