Burning DVDs

How do you do that shit?
I'll have DVR+ discs by this weekend.. and I already have a program that will let me burn DVDs. ..but what file type and shit do I need movies to be in for them to work? |

I just copy actual DVD's, none of that downloading movies bullshit. Takes up too much space and can bring viruses.
