Oldest Memory of Hip-Hop

IP:

yeah, so what is your oldest memory of a hip-hop song or group when it actually came out... sometimes i wish i was older so i was actually around when Wu Tang was droppin all their hot shit and Nas and Jay were first startin and shit... and so i got to thinkin and realized i remember alot of shit being 18 that you 15 and 16 year olds wouldnt have even experienced, so i figured this would be a pretty cool thread to hear people's memories...

i would have to say my earliest memory of a hip-hop song droppin would have to be some old school Dre and Snoop shit, then Eminem and the Bling Bling Era with Cash Money at kinda the same time...

so do some of you younger cats not even remember like the start of Cash Money comin on the scene, somethin that changed the face of hip-hop...?

lmao yeah, because thats really how you determine a fan... i knew this shit would start some dumbasses starting beef... like you really studied their lyrical content when u were 5... so what ur saying if u didnt listen to hip-hop ur whole life you cant ever get into it? and when the hell have i ever claimed to be a "hardcore hip-hop fan", that sounds stupid as fuck...

its the fact that they are old enough to remember stuff from before eminem or nas, but dont, and the fact they remember the commercial shit first, i was born into whats basically a hip hop culture... everybody listened to it round my ends along with reggae, soul n shit like that.... but also i know alot of these kids dont listen to anything(or barely anything) from before the time they founded hip hop..... ive had kids i wont mention names, that ive talked to on here, and they dont even have a clue who kool herc is, n they are more or less the same age as me.

exactly, but everybody WASNT "born" into that, and thats what im saying, theres nothing wrong with them finding hip-hop after that... its not like "oop, you're 6 years old, you cant start listening to hip-hop now"
