type of music is hard to say, but if not hip-hop, I listen to classical (specifically beethovan and mozart), R&B (obviously) performers like Jamaraquai, BJork, radiohead, James Brown, or any other musical outlet that's particular harmonic - either with digital music or acoustic. I just listen to observe how they blend sounds and the effect(s) it creates, then figure out how it would apply in rap and utilize it. And before you know it, you have mega-harmonic tracks like Perfect Groupie, Come get ripped, shut-up freestyle, etc. I use my voice almost identical to how a violinist uses a Stradivarius.[/exposes half of his secret]
