unless you were referring to the general people making that argument
I just presented to RV what I saw on TV, it had the exact same title as this thread on ESPN

and the reason they are saying it is racist is because it is against hip-hop culture, and most of the people inside hip-hop culture AND inside the NBA are, in fact, black.

How is it against the hip hop culture? I don't know if you've ever been in a business environment, but coming in with "chains" and saggy pants and shit isn't professional.

It's not against hip hop, that's not what it's about. It's not like they're making NBA players throw out their hip hop clothes and replace them with suits. They can still wear that shit in the offseason, informal situations, etc.

did you read the second part of my original post?
thats exactly what i said the other side of the argument was....

but in my opinion, like vango said the NBA makes money off of and markets the hip-hop culture, its not like other normal "businesses" and its unfair to compare it to one in this situation....

How is it unfair? Basketball is their job.

So? Dressing like a slut at school is against the whore culture, but no one cares bout that. If people would stop saying everything people do is to harm someone then we'd all get along. Freedom of speech has been abused in the past decade.

Basketball is a bigger job then McDonalds. Let's get the comparisons going. A lawyer can't just take off his suit once the jury gives the decision. You have to keep that shit on, looking professional all the way out.. and you can't change into a suit when you get into court either. It's a job. Dress professionally.

right, well okay you said you couldnt compare mcdonalds to basketball for certain reasons....

well, you cant compare being a lawyer to being in the NBA either, lawyers make their money from being professional and that fits their profession, do lawyers wear jerseys and play a sport while they are ON their job? No, the way that basketball players make their money fits hip-hop culture and clothing, a white tee and jeans is appropriate... thats the image they have on and off the court, and thats the image the NBA uses to sell apparel

They make their money playing basketball. That doesn't fit the hip hop culture. Nobody fucking describes the hip hop culture with playing basketball. It's all about the clothing, and the NBA wants them to look professionally on their to and from the stadiums. It's not a big fucking deal.

Mim I meant to say hip-hop culture instead of clothing, not that that makes a difference, but I edited the original.....

but yes, basketball is their job.... and when they're playing basketball, they wear their uniforms and follow the dress code... but leaving work isnt their job.
