NO...Those human rights are inherent...i.e., the right to LIVE for one. I think Thomas Jefferson summed it up. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...

On a biological standpoint, everyone has a right to defend himself...

Therefore, how is it fair that a dictator gets to live a happy life and then suppress everyone else. That won't go unpunished.

^^That's ridiculous. You can't dislike the "notion" of America but like American products. That's a compromise that is unacceptable. I can't hate what someone stands for, then claim I like what they "produce". ehh ehh

I think this is the problem with people right here. Hardly anyone is willing to take a stand and say what's right and what's wrong, as it applies to preserving human rights.

Again, I use the example of slavery. Based on your arguments, then the U.S. government should still be allowed to buy and sell slaves without the world raising an eyebrow.

That's not my arguements at all. I wouldn't be friends with someone who peed one people even if he was Whitney Houston. Shit, I don't know if I'd be friends with her crazy ass either.

Of course you can. America is such a broad thing. Maybe I hate some things in america, but like other things. For example, I hate the American government but I like KFC. The manager of a KFC store probably hates the government as well... And I hate the average american but I like jessica alba. Every american doesnt fit the stereotype of the kind of american I hate, and jessica alba is dope.

Its not love or hate, theres a huge grey area..

That sounds dangerously close to, "I don't hate all blacks, just the niggers."

Also, Macdonalds, Levis, Apple Pie, those things are American icons in a way. So, if someone hates "America", then they should hate things that represent America. You can't have your cake and eat it too. That's different from sayin "I hate Macdonalds." That doesn't mean you hate "America" because America represents many things. If they were specific, then that wouldn't be an issue. But, those terrorists hate America, period. They claim they hate the American "government" yet kill American "people".

Lies lies and more lies

hmm...Re-read what I said. I said that if someone makes the general statement, "I hate America," then they ARE hypocrites if they benefit from AMERICAN products. If they say specifically what they hate about America, then that's another story. The products I named are iconic of American culture. So, if someone says they hate "America" but loves "Macdonalds", then there is a dual standard in there somewhere. America encompasses Macdonalds, not vice versa. It is extremely hypocritical. These terrorists kill American people. How is that hating the government? THey obviously don't understand how we operate here in America. If they did, they'd realize killing random American people won't change U.S. policy.

What I said has nothing to do with a statement like that. I dont like the "average american", which is a person who has a closed mind, often forces his beliefs on others, is rude, probably slightly overweight... etc. You know.. that stereotype. But there are plenty of americans that I do like.

You're going off topic. I agree with the last part of what you said... But originally we were talking about hating america but liking what america produces. Everything america produces isnt a national icon. I dont like the way america works, I dont like a lot of american people, I dont like some states... But I like the simpsons, a lot of the music I listen to is from america, and I like american food.

I dont understand why youre saying you cant hate the "notion" of america and like what it produces. Because you can.

I disagree. The "notion" of America is what allowed these companies and these products to flourish in the first place. We are a free country with free enterprise. Hey, it's the land of opportunity. If what you're saying is correct, then Bin Laden could

a) Be a Britney Spear's fan
b) Eat KFC regularly
c) Wear Jordans
and
d) love "Friends"

and still be justified in saying, "I hate America?"

Nah bro...huge discepancy there.

ok, if we just pulled EVERY American thing out of the rest of the world, our troops, our red cross helpers, everything down to an American fork and then just sat back in Isolation, Terrorists would own the eastern hemisphere...they would take over, and eventually Russia and China will chip in to the take over of ex-american allies...the eastern hemosphere would be fucked....eventually nuclear bombs would start to be used like M-16 bullets....so to say that you hate America and hate us because we "think"" we can change everything is unappreciative....if we isolated our self from the world the east side of the world would be in a state of chaos..when terrorists want kill people in another country or if some country wants to declare a large scale war on another the first thing that comes to their mind is "what will America do" its that fear of America that keeps them at bay from just destroying the little helpless countries and getting resources and eventually taking over the east of the world.....word.

I say what we do about the nuclear warheads is we get that GHOST program from the movie 'The Pacifier' and use it to disable all nukes. Then we all kick back and get handjobs from Col-B.

Well it all depends on what you consider the "notion" of america to be.

I think we are arguing on whole different mindsets here. Basically, I was just saying that you can like some american things and hate others... Which is an obvious truth. I think you're talking about a deeper issue.
