No. Hip Hop couldn't possibly be a big part of your life if it's change doesn't concern you. The people who deserve more should get more. If the people who don't care about what they do and just do it for money get rewarded than what is that gonna do for hardworking artists? They're not gonna be as motivated due to low appreciation levels. The fame is more than money and girls, it's a sense that your work is really appreciated and known. But hey, hip hop can change anyway it likes -_- This all started when LL cool j did the "commercial songs for telivision and the 'real shit' for the albums" shit. So people grew up thinking those are the only supportable ways to become a rapper. And it changed the image of hip hop for the worse. But hey like I said hip hop can change anyway it likes, who cares.

I see where you're coming from but it's 2006, no ones worried about getting a message out there. That stopped as soon as Jay-Z dissed Nas for trying "to kick knowledge". All people is worried about is money, cars, jewelry, sex and drugs. Party. That's what the new millenium is all about, and get used to it because it's gonna be like that for a long time. Black niggas in the street is hungry and is ready to do just about anything for the loot. That's the only thing that matters nowadays.

i may be a little too militant for this one... i'm an advocate for the educational, soulful (you read right), and in my eyes true message and representation of my culture and my ppl, like brothers like common and talib kweli are portraying... i get just as wild as the rest of humanity, but when u get big, u gotta realize that eyes are watchin u, and u have a responsibility to your fans, and to your community, to represent them in a becoming and intelligent manner...

Building off of what Indeph said, Because he was right...
I don't see why I should sit here and respect some shit like 50 cent or Dem Franchise Boyz just as much as I respect Jay-Z or Nas or Immortal Technique. If someone spits some whack superficial shit, it not only affects hip hop, it gives the impression to channel flippers who stop on BET or MTV that THIS is what hip hop is all about and I'm looked at like all I want to do is ride rims or be a P.I.M.P. It becomes something more than music and becomes a stereotype. So basically, if someone who doesn't have any skill or very little of it is making money whoring a culture I love and at the same time making my life and people like me lives harder because they create a stereotype, there is no way in hell I'm going to just give them their props, fuck that.

when nearly every rapper has talked about guns and cash then what do you really expect the rest of the world is gonna think about hiphop, and why does it matter? why does it matter if BillyJoeRichassBob made a radio hit single for KIIS FM about certain parts of his automobile and basic human temptations? thats his deal under his own name and he'll be known for it personally. thats why its up to every artist to set their own style and voice. if you can't do that much for yourself then hating on a bigger voice would be mindless and inconsiderate. its their life and success shouldn't have a penalty. theres enough cd's out there for everybody to make an album and take a shot at consulting the planet of god-knows-what and chances are, somebody will stumble across yours. dont forget that hiphop is entertainment also and not just "a message." if you don't like a poorly compiled teenage banga track then thats your deal. although somebody out there prolly has it on their ipod and noddin to it daily and it makes them feel good. thats what the whole movement is about - to somehow carve a path leading as close to paradise and happiness as possible. evolution holds its own and we don't need anymore war starters to go around bein a music nazi. music is a great thing so dont try to put guidelines on it. gotta be a "true artist" just to spit a rhyme...wtf you smokin
