Or you could actually give to the poor, like a struggling mother who you know will spend it earnestly and not waste it away on booze. Would God be happy that you gave money to the church, which is only a medium in which you can pray, where you can pray and worship in other places, or if you gave financial stability to God's other children?

Or like the prospect of giving directly to the poor people instead of allowing a potentially greedy church to spend it on more unnecessary candelabrum so they can preach to God while the church still retains that wonderful holy smell of incense and moted light.
