Heres what you need to do...

Go to the start menu and click on "run" and type dxdiag in there.

Once you're in dxdiag, go to display and it will tell you the name of your graphics chipset. Go to sound and it will tell you the name of your audio chipset. Then go on google and put the exact name of what you have in there as well as the word drivers, and look for the right drivers for them (seperately, not at the same time).

I could probably give you a quick answer as to whether doing that will help or not if you tell me the name of your graphics shit and how much memory it has. If its too shit for vista, you're going to need to reformat to install windows xp..

Just put in the windows xp cd, turn off the computer, then reboot with the cd in there.

Yes, everything will be fixed... You'll lose any files you had though, unless you back them up somehow. All you need to do is reformat the hard drive, which wipes everything off it and gives windows xp a clean slate to start off of. It asks you to do that during the windows xp install, it's not hard at all.

You could buy a new computer for vista, if you want to. I don't know what Vista could offer you that xp couldn't, though, other than looking pretty.

you could always download cp if you dont have it, lucky for me, my mom works with chicago public schools, and dell have these little green cds with a reinstallation of windows xp sp2 and if you boot from it and partition you dont need a product keu, and its genuine, and all my computers are delll, so anytime i fuck up i dont fret ii jus repartition my shit, and i have a external hard drive so i dont worry about my files

Rofl, dont make fun of me bitch all my shits bootleg!

I break computers alot, my laptop burnout and nearly burned our house down, i knocked the tower to one of the compaqs on the floor and broke it, than dropped lemonaid on it, and now this one, haha.

But, i found 2 discs, both came in the packaging with my laptop (broken one), there both black and white, and one says "Operating System CD Microsot Windows Xp Home Edition Service Pack 2" and the other says "Application And Driver Recovery Dvd", think either one of those will fix it?

How are you trying to install it?

If the cd is in there when you start up the comp, you shouls be able to go into the options thing... On my comps it usually says something during the boot like "push f10 to open configuration menu" or something like that. Then in there there should be an option to do with booting, and you need to change the boot drive from whatever it is to the cd drive the install cd is in... That, or there may be a boot from CD option.
