Do you know how hard it is for freelance writers to make the amount of money you imply that you do?

Writing a book also yields small returns unless it sells a shitload of copies.

I'd like to know what writing jobs you've had in the last year, and how much you got paid for them... Because freelance writing is a business where you are either one of the best writers, and you can make a living, or you're the rest, and you can scrape by.

Not really. It's called an advance, but the higher your advance is the worst it becomes. It's your money and everything, but it takes out of your royalties until the advance is paid off. If you have a huge advance but you do shitty in sales, selling the next book will be hard as fuck because of the lost you had in the past. Hence some people asking for .01$ advances.
