an ip address is the signal that your computer puts out there to let the other comptuers its connecting to ... know that its that computer thats atlking... basicly its like your very own Licencplate on line... sorta.. you can MASK them... but u have to have the soft ware

its broad casted... i could get ur IP address if u IMed me on AIM... simple as that...

and the ip can be checked by a mod or admin by simply clicking the ip logged icon....but admins have a more specific ip search...Plus ip bans aren't done too often....considering the fact that it may ban other users...
