Ayura, shut up. I shut you up before on this topic, its now getting redundant.
"How many white kids try and act like eminem, just because they think he's cool, and will switch culture at the drop of a dime. That's insulting to the culture dont you agree?" -Not at all. Its only an insult if you take it as one. I could really care less. People are people and people do dumb things. I've accepted it. "Mainstream Hip Hop is the goverments exploitment to degrade the race of blacks, by supplying them with expressive enjoyment via media exposure through the goverments usage of controversial structure. Thus stereotypes blacks as dangerous people. Thus degrading them to the worlds society." -Hip Hop hasn't done that, mainstream rap hasn't done that. History has. Blacks have been seen as trouble making bunches that are good for nothing...except picking cotton forever. That was far before rap music ever existed. During the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's (and before that as well), blacks have been seen as the ones that cause trouble, and if anything wrong happens, they did it. You think blacks had to use different bathrooms than whites because of rap music?...something that wouldn't exist for at least 30 years. -Blacks have done a good enough job of living up to their stereotype if you haven't noticed. Not that I'm racist, because its not completely their faults, they’ve been put into a situation which is incredibly hard to get out of. When you live in a run down ’ghetto’, because you can’t get out, for lack of money, and other reasons on top of that, you become subject to the likeliness of succumbing to the common affairs of that ghetto. And on top of that, as if it wasn’t already enough, they have been given the stereotype of “bad”, and its much easier to fall into a stereotype than it is to not. "commerical artists, I think are payed to say the stuff they say as a blackmail confrontation. Although I dont think what they are doing." -Are you serious?...you do realize the government wanted to get rid of NWA right? And thats pretty much who you can thank for the start of "gangsta rap". Bud, stop with the bullshit, all these conspiracies. What next, 50 Cent is actually an alien who was captured by the army, brainwashed by scientists at Area 51 to be a "gangsta rapper"? "However underground hip hop, is just raw and really educational (in certain aspects). Its a positive thing, and is mature entertainment. Is it not?" Are you serious? Go listen to Necro or Ill Bill, tell me thats educational. There are all different types of underground artists, some are positive, some are stupid, some are just underground because they can't make it mainstream. There's everything... |

Why do you beef against me all the time?

Theres no proof in saying that. He got shot 9 times remember. Thats like saying - 'If I hold this ball in my hand, and let go, theres no proof in that one day, it'll float to the ceiling.' You can only prove things on a basis which reflect things which are in existence. Besides his face is mungled up. Yes I understand blacks where discriminated before rap music you fassy-hole. Im just stating the fact of the government doing what its doing. Yes I realise the underground scene is diverse and I clearly stated (in certain aspects). Man when I listened to jedi mind, I wanted to understand some of the stuff they talked about, so i researched and found it, thus being educational and knowledgable in a sense. However your kinda right about the eminem thing, but its still true. And if you couldnt care less, why are so eager to shut me up then? About stereotyping, thats pretty true, it is hard to fall outta one. Like if someone managed to fool a bunch of black people or any other race, into thinking white people are criminals and stuff, eventually the white people will become criminals because they'll think its there place in life to be one. So I can see where your coming from. But then again, why are concentrating on just black people? Theres loads of differant societies and communities that fall into differant things. Such as Mexicans, classified as trouble makers. Or like germans who are hairy people. Which aint strictly true. Or Indians are always doctors, and own cornershops. Case Closed. |

"Why do you beef against me all the time?" -If you stopped talking about these stupid got damn government conspiracies I wouldn’t have to! "Theres no proof in saying that. He got shot 9 times remember. Thats like saying - 'If I hold this ball in my hand, and let go, theres no proof in that one day, it'll float to the ceiling.' You can only prove things on a basis which reflect things which are in existence. Besides his face is mungled up." -What The Fuck? Ok, first off, what the fuck did him being shot 9 times have to do with anything? And you also proved my whole point that no conspiracies exist. “You can only prove things on a basis which reflect things which are in existence.” Thank you! You are still yet to provide any actual evidence that the government has this hold over “rap”...or are they hiding it that good? ![]() "Yes I understand blacks where discriminated before rap music you fassy-hole. Im just stating the fact of the government doing what its doing." -You see, everyone did, that was the way of life, not just the government. Nothing you have said is a fact. Go grab a dictionary you UFO, Conspiracy Fuck. "However your kinda right about the eminem thing, but its still true. And if you couldnt care less, why are so eager to shut me up then?" -Because its god damn fun. Also because everything your talking about is ridiculous. "But then again, why are concentrating on just black people? Theres loads of differant societies and communities that fall into differant things. Such as Mexicans, classified as trouble makers. Or like germans who are hairy people. Which aint strictly true. Or Indians are always doctors, and own cornershops. Case Closed." Nothing is strictly true, that’s why it’s a stereotype. Blacks have fallen victim to the stereotype they are in because of slavery basically...they earned a bad reputation than, well, even before that, because they were taken slaves. Wait…why the fuck am I even explaining all this? You didn’t prove anything with your whole reply there. You just stated random bullshit, you are yet to write anything people would deem remotely conclusive to prove your point. |

alright alright u guys I think I'll step in the middle of this and get this thread a lil bit back on topic instead of listenin to u 2 bitch back and forth at each other no offence or nuttin cuz let alone it is mildly amusing and slightly funny but at the same time kinda childish so y don't u to just work out whatever differences u got and whatever. but anyways about the topic here. personally I think most mainstream rap is shit. I'm all for the west coast with em and dre and all them and as for east coast??? the only group I really like from there is cypress hill cuz they were always real with their shit and they had the best blazin songs ever. but anyways if u really wanna understand the hip hop culture to it's fullest I suggest u start listenin to tons and tons of underground and old school rap because unlike "most" mainstream, underground artists have a way of always speakin their shit real with tons of lyrical skills and they speak the shit deep. and as for the old school rap well that shit has always been realer the the new age mainstream hip hop in my opinion. an for a few suggestions of underground artists check out some shit by:
atmosphere mac lethal a tribe called quest classified necro arsonists and sphere of hip-hop juss some suggestions. peace.

this is a tough subject and id have to agree, it is a double sided sword. cuz theres gonna be those people who hear an artist like eminem or ja rule or nelly and thats all there ever gonna listen to, and theres gonna be those who will hear those artists and not only be turned onto mainstream rap but theyll also start listening to more underground shit with more meaning in it. so yea some people are gunna have a false image of the hip hop culture, but therll people who are gunna ave a real sense of rap too

i agree with ayura in some aspects... i do think it is wrong to claim to be a hip hop fan just cos u think eminem is cool... hip hop is about more than that.... but come on man, government conspiracies? thats just straight bullshit... hip hop is music, culture & entertainment... not a conspiracy theory... i couldnt care less whether an artist makes mainstream music... as long as they stay true to themselves and make the real stuff for true hip hop fans.. but everyone needs to sell and make a living... so if they release a a single or two that does well, that doesnt make them a bad artist... look at nas, eminem, jay z, 2pac, biggie... theyre all mainstream artists, but they also make songs for the real hip hop fans to listen to... it just the shit they release to make money is aired on MTV
and as for underground, its great - to me underground is just the same except its more hardcore and isnt seen on TV and heard on radio... but that doesnt mean that those who are are not good artists.. |

im sorry but that a str8 up stupid remark, just because someone listens to a mainstream artist that doesnt mean that they dont isten or have an opinion on underground rap. that statement was by no means relevant. |

sorry self, but you are wrong. I, and anyone, can be both underground fan and enjoy mainstream music - what's your reasoning behind having to choose between one? And when i say mainstream, that doesnt mean MTV. Mainstream selling artist can also release good songs on their album which will not be released as singles. Coming from someone with 4000 + posts, that was a pretty uneducated statement.
