It's been done to death. Yeah, text is the foundation of rap. No decent song ya ever heard on any CD... DMX, Eminem, Jay-Z, fucking Aesop, Nelly... NONE OF EM FREESTYLED THAT IN THE STUDIO!!! But in battling? Sure, text means a prewrite. And prewrites are frowned upon. So, yeah, no doubt... Dissing from the hip is more respected. But, in the end... Whichever way ya look at it...
