Word, that's why I like RV, 'cuz I can talk with people who have the same perspective on hip hop that I do. A lot of kids at my school don't value my opinions on hip hop because I talk badly about what they like (Chingy, J-Kwon, Lil' Scrappy, etc.). That's just my view on them, because I listen to their lyrics and I just see them as unnecessary to hip hop. It's gotten to a point where I just can't listen to the radio or watch MTV/BET anymore. The worst part is that it pulls in everyone nowadays. We're surrounded by people who get sucked in by a catchy tune and play it out as quick as they can. I believe Jay-Z said it best on "The Bounce".

And everyone loves today's hip hop. What happened to the Old School? where have all our Grandmaster Flash's and Chuck D's gone? Pop culture has invaded our airwaves. Nowdays, American society is less concerned about substance and more concerned about how you do that right thurr, or who's in the club getting tipsy.

Why don't I just quit rapping then? Because it has become a part of me. I love the creative aspect of it all, the way I can sit down and let whatever's on my mind just flow onto the paper. It's incredibly therapeudic for me too, as it helps get whatever off my chest in a safe manner...
