There's a big difference between people you know committing suicide, and people making threads on the internet saying they're contemplating suicide.

And that's the problem there. If you're depressed and you're on the internet regularly, get the fuck off the internet and engage in some social interaction. And don't come back on the internet until you're not depressed anymore. That all seems like common sense to me.

If you're a regular socialite and depressed, then go talk to someone. And nobody should ever have the mentality that they don't want to talk to someone about being suicidal...unless, of course, you enjoy being suicidal. Then you should have no reason to worry about it.

Sounds liek a good idea, but what do you do when you have no one else you can think to talk to, so you seek advice from your peers. That's normally not a bad thing. And now that it's on the net where more people could give positive feedback without concern for them judging you, that's a bad thing? How? Don't blame this man for looking for help. You should look toward the people who think it's cool and fun to mock somebody for that.

True. That statement applies across the board though, no matter who it is. No one can relate to feeling desolate unless they've felt it, so to expect someone that's never experienced something to have empathy for someone actively working through it is unlikely. Like describing color to a blind man.

Option 1: read it
Option 2: don't read it.

But regardless no need to make it sound like you're forced against your will, because it looks more like you're trying to make someone look like less than they are, so you look like more than you are. Add to that, why try to get other people NOT to care if you're so disinterested?

Some people will see someone choking or bleeding or otherwise in need of immediate aid and instinctively seek to help that person how ever they can, regardless of if the know them or not. Why? because it makes no difference if you know them or not, they're still hurt!
